A Great Game

Like I said in a previous post I do not watch very many sports on T.V. for multiple reasons. This past week was an exception. It was the American league play offs were on. That is a part of the MLB. One of my favorite teams was in it, the Texas Rangers. They were predicted to win all the whole play off.
Game 1
The first game was close the whole time; the final score was 2-3. Many people consider this as a great game because it was two of the best pitchers in the league and it was basically a pitching battle. I don’t consider this a good game because I like seeing players smash the ball and scoring runs, not two pitchers getting strike outs.
Game 2
The score of the second game looks like it is a blowout but in reality the game went into extra innings. It was three to three up until the bottom of the eleventh when Cruz, the Ranger’s right fielder hit a grand slam to end the game seven to three.
Game 3
The third game was won by the Cardinals to make the series 2-1. Doug Fister was the pitcher for Detroit during the third game, and he did excellent he made it very hard for Texas to get hits. Texas ended up scoring 2 runs, but Detroit was able to score five to win the game.
Game 4
The fourth game was won by the Texas Rangers, which made this amazing series 3-1 Texas on top. This game was won by Cruz yet again, it was three to three in the ninth inning, one score was made in order for Texas to make a lead, and then Cruz hits a three run home run which ends up as the game winning hit.
Game 5
The fifth game was won by the Detroit Tigers; this was a very necessary win. If they had lost they would have been out for good. This game started off tough for the Tigers, Texas scored in the first inning. Then Detroit turned it around to end up winning 7-5. I do have to say, Texas did have a lot of bad luck during this game including a ground ball that hit the base and bounced over the third base men’s head, generating a run.
Game 6
The sixth game ended up being the final game of this 2011 ALCS series. Texas wins this game and wins the championship. Now they are going to the World Series which ends up being against the Cardinals. Nelson Cruz and Michael Young both went for the big hits to score 15 runs; this game was the only real blow out in the series. Detroit only managed to score 5 runs.

By winning four out of the five games the Texas Rangers were able to make it to the World Series 2011. They didn’t only win this; this is also the second year in a row that the Rangers made it to the World Series. Last year they lost to the Giants, but I have a feeling they will win this year.
